Cultural Heritage at War (Digital Humanities Collaborative Project)

Cultural Heritage at War developed out of an earlier research unit on the computational analysis of Russian and Slavic literature, in response to Russia鈥檚 invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. This group is a local chapter of , an international rapid-response digital humanities effort co-founded by DLCL Academic Technology Specialist Quinn Dombrowski, which has brought together over 1,500 volunteers from around the world to support Ukrainian digital cultural heritage during this war. The group has web archived over 5,000 Ukrainian websites for libraries, archives, and museums; developed a and associated pedagogical materials, has been tracking , and is raising money to provide Ukrainian cultural heritage institutions with digitization equipment to continue their work to make their collections available digitally, both to share their culture and as a stopgap against disaster.
