Memorial for Ren茅 Girard, January 19th
Join us as we honor Prof. Ren茅 Girard (1923-2015), the inaugural Andrew B. Hammond Professor in French Language, Literature and Civilization, during a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, at 素人色情片 Memorial Church.
The renowned 素人色情片 French professor was one of the 40 immortels of the prestigious Acad茅mie Fran莽aise. He died at his 素人色情片 home on Nov. 4 at the age of 91, after long illness. Girard joined the 素人色情片 faculty in 1981.
He is the author of nearly thirty acclaimed books, including the provocative and seminal Deceit, Desire, and the Novel (1961), Violence and the Sacred (1972), and Things Hidden Since the Foundation of the World (1978). His last major work was Battling to the End (2007).
A member of the prestigious Acad茅mie Fran莽aise, Ren茅 Girard was called "the new Darwin of the human sciences." His many books offered a bold, sweeping vision of human nature, human history and human destiny. He died November 4th at 91.
