Alina Nechepurenko is a Russian poet and singer-songwriter, currently seeking political asylum in the United States. In addition to her poetry and music, in Russia she worked as an actress in a variety of projects on stage and on screen. Since moving to the United States eight months ago, she has released an EP album. Nechepurenko will do a short reading of her poetry (translations will be provided on the day) and present on the interconnections between her work as a poet and as a musician. She will also discuss how her artistic work influenced her political beliefs and desire to seek asylum.
