Please join the Italian Lecture Series talk entitled "Photography before Futurism: Umberto Boccioni’s I/We and a Collective of One" by Ara Merjian (Professor of Italian, New York University).
Ara Merjian has written and edited several books, including Giorgio de Chirico and the Metaphysical City: Nietzsche, Paris Modernism (Yale University Press, 2014) and Against the Avant-Garde: Pier Paolo Pasolini, Contemporary Art and Neocapitalism (University of Chicago Press, 2020). He recently co-edited Heretical Aesthetics: Pasolini on Painting, with Verso, and due out this year are Fragments of Totality: Futurism, Fascism, and the Sculptural Avant-Garde (Yale University Press) and Futurism: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press). He is currently at work on two new books: Blueprints and Ruins: Giorgio de Chirico and the Architectural Imagination from the Avant-Garde to Postmodernism (under contract with MIT), and Beat, Black, Queer: Pasolini’s ‘Other America’.
